If you want to improve your academic skills, prepare for a GED or HSED, or work on your computer or keyboarding skills, the Adult Education Center (AEC) can help. The AEC is located on the first floor of Workforce Solutions and offers a variety of programs that fit the needs of adult learners. Staffed in partnership with Gateway Technical College, our professional and friendly staff is available to provide guidance and assistance. Educational programs include:
- Basic Skills Instruction and GED/HSED Preparation - complete your high school education or improve your basic reading, writing or math skills in our open lab. We offer individualized instruction and materials at no charge. Instructors will help you plan, utilize the materials and ultimately reach your goals.
- Computer Software Skills - improve your computer skills in Windows, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and basic Internet through our no-cost, self-paced instruction. Each application has approximately 12 hours of instruction that is available year-round, Monday through Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- English Language Learners (ELL) - if English is not your first language and you would like to improve your reading, speaking and writing, you can benefit by taking ELL classes offered at Gateway Technical College. Classes are free for Wisconsin residents and the cost of books is approximately $40. For more information, contact Laura Knudson at 262.619.6834.
