LOOKING AHEAD: INVESTING IN OUR COUNTY, STAFF, AND YOUTH
Racine County is excited to report construction of the Youth Development and Care Center is ahead of schedule and under budget. This project has significantly boosted our local economy by providing contracts to local businesses as well as minority-, women-, and veteran-owned firms. Additionally, our project provides family-sustaining employment for many local residents, reflecting our commitment to a fully capable and employed workforce.
Below are just some of the positive, countywide impacts underway with the construction of the Youth Development and Care Center:

As we approach becoming fully operational on January 1, 2025, Racine County is providing ongoing staff support, including:
- More direct staff supervision;
- Comprehensive 160-hour Secure Juvenile Detention training certifications;
- Multi-disciplinary staff training, including de-escalation techniques;
- Policy updates and consolidation into a shared database to improve accessibility;
- Doubling the amount of mental health and behavioral supports for youth.
From construction to staffing, we are putting our values into action to support our communities and youth.
