Residents of Racine County who have been convicted of Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) are required to complete  an OWI assessment. The assessment is an interview between an individual convicted of OWI and a Substance Abuse assessor.  The interview focuses on use of alcohol and/or other drugs, and the effects on your life and driving privileges. As part of the assessment, the assessor develops a Driver Safety Plan for the individual.

The Plan may involve an alcohol education program, Alcohol or drug abuse (AODA) counseling, or a combination of both.  The Plan is intended to assist individuals in reducing drinking and driving behavior. The Driver Safety Plan is mandated by Wisconsin Department of Transportation  for everyone convicted of an OWI related offense.  You must successfully complete the Driver Safety Plan in order to regain/maintain driving privileges.
