Criminal Justice Coordinating Council

Mission Statement

The mission of the CJCC is to improve communication, cooperation, and coordination within the Racine County Criminal Justice System in order to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of its operations.

History

In July, 2002, the CJCC was created by the Racine County Sheriff and the Presiding Judge of the Racine County Circuit Court to review the existing problems and proposed solutions surrounding the expansion of the Racine County Jail. This project served as the impetus for the creation of the CJCC. Further assistance was provided by the DOJ publication: "Guidelines for Creating a Criminal Justice Coordinating Committee" dated January, 2002, for creating the membership list, procedures and guidelines. In addition to the jail expansion project, a list of current issues affecting the Racine County system was created which has driven the CJCC ever since.

Meeting

CJCC meets once per quarter each year. Meetings are generally held on the 1st floor Courthouse conference room. Meetings notices are sent out to members, interested parties who have requested notice, and media outlets once scheduled.
