Description The theme of this retreat is Meister Eckhart’s notion of Gelassenheit, a German word he coined which could be rendered “letting-be-ness” or, in a poetic sense, serenity. We will also consider in this retreat his bold invitation to “live without a Why” because, as Eckhart put it, “there is no Why in God.” We will explore how “why-less” living opens a door to inner peace.
During this day of reflection, participants will be invited into what 13th century Dominican mystic Meister Eckhart viewed as the deep freedom and simplicity we long for in our lives. To have this experience, what matters is letting go and not filling up.
Come to explore how, through Eckhart’s notions of “keeping still” and “unknowing,” we can discern the divine presence within us and all of creation.
