The Racine County Communications Center (RCCC) answers all non emergency and emergency calls for the entire county of Racine. We currently serve a population of over 195,000 and answer over 300,000 calls a year. We also handle the radio traffic for each agency we serve. We employ a staff of 46 dispatchers that operate 24/7 on 5 different shifts. Each of our dispatchers go through numerous months of training to become a qualified Dispatch Technician. In order to operate efficiently and effectively each dispatcher operates numerous computer systems that handle multiple tasks that include, mapping, computer aided dispatch (CAD), enhanced wireless 911, radio systems, automatic vehicle location (AVL) and several other systems.

History

In 2011, three of the four communication centers in Racine County moved into one building under a joint-contractual agreement: the City of Racine, Racine County, and Mt Pleasant/Caledonia/Sturtevant. The City of Burlington joined the joint communications center in December 2017. This joint venture aimed to provide efficiency, faster service and save taxpayers money. Together as the RCCC, we no longer need to transfer 911 calls from municipality to municipality within Racine County, we have a single phone number for all of Racine County, and we require less employees to accomplish the same tasks.
