TRAINING AND WORKSHOPS

We aim to support people in gaining the knowledge and skills needed to both thrive and recover from a disaster. Each year we train thousands of people how to prepare for emergencies, prevent injuries and respond effectively when a disaster strikes. Year round we offer free training and information sessions to individuals, businesses, community groups, schools and other organizations throughout Racine County. Most programs are scalable and we will work with you to tailor a presentation to your needs. Free training and workshops include:


Disaster Preparedness: The Basics

This presentation provides an overview of the hazards that can impact Racine County, and steps that individuals and families can take to become more prepared to deal with them. This includes guidance on how to develop a disaster plan and build a disaster supply kit.

Intended Audience: This presentation is intended for a broad array of audiences. This could include a business or non-profit organization looking to increase the personal preparedness of its employees. It could also include a community group looking to improve the personal preparedness of the neighborhood or people they serve.

Duration: 30 minutes - 1 hour

A Day Without Business-Prepare To Stay Open

This presentation provides an overview of the hazards that can impact Racine County, and steps that businesses can take to become more prepared to deal with them. This includes guidance on how to develop an emergency response plan, as well as a business recovery plan.

Intended Audience: This presentation is intended for businesses and those with responsibilities for emergency planning. Typical attendees are plant managers, risk managers, human resource specialists and IT personnel.

Duration:  1 - 2 hours

Faithful Readiness: Preparing for Emergencies and Disasters

This presentation provides an overview of the hazards that can impact Racine County, and steps that faith based organizations can take to become more prepared to deal with them. This includes guidance on how to develop an emergency response plan, a business recovery plan and a community outreach plan

Intended Audience:  This presentation is intended for faith based organizations and houses of worship.

Duration: 1 - 2 hours

PIO 101

This course covers basic information about the role of a State or local Public Information Officer.  The goal of this awareness course is to provide an orientation to the public information function and the role of the Public Information Officer (PIO) in the public safety/emergency management environment.

Intended Audience: This presentation is intended for those who may deal with the media.

Duration:  3 hours
